What Is Fiberglass Gypsum Board?

  Gypsum board is a kind of non-combustible building materials, in the past commonly used wood chips or various fibers to be enhanced, in recent years, a large number of glass fiber reinforced gypsum. Because of the good dispersion of glass fiber in gypsum slurry, the adaptability (affinity) with gypsum is also very good. No chemical change occurs between the two. Moreover, glass fiber also has the advantages of small expansion and contraction, high strength, heat resistance, good fire resistance, moisture absorption and small water absorption. Therefore, gypsum products reinforced with glass fiber have the following characteristics: ① light weight, high tensile strength, bending strength, impact strength products can be produced; ② products can be prevented from cracking; ③ good performance when hitting nails; ④ cutting, less damage to the incision; ⑤ to improve the fire performance.

  The fireproof effect of gypsum board is mainly due to its non-combustibility and low thermal conductivity. The fireproof wall built with gypsum board can control the spread of fire. At high temperature, gypsum will dehydrate and decompose, no glass fiber reinforced gypsum board will be scattered and fall off or collapse to lose the fireproof effect, glass fiber reinforced gypsum, even if it decomposes, due to the glass fibers play a role in strengthening, but also to maintain the original shape and fire resistance.

  Reinforcement materials are generally used short cut glass fiber, cut into lengths of 10~15mm better. Glass fiber must be used to spread the performance of good monofilament, in order to get a good dispersion and distribution in the gypsum slurry. In glass fiber reinforced gypsum, the glass fiber content is about 1.5%. When the glass fiber content increases, the strength decreases instead, which is a result of the fibers agglomerating and preventing the gypsum from bonding.

  Glass fiber reinforced gypsum can also be used to make plaster models of ceramics, which can be made stronger and more durable.

  In addition, the addition of glass fibers to gypsum slurry for painting prevents it from falling off after painting. The use of fiberglass factory's scrap open wire instead of machete to enhance plastering plaster is very effective.
